
Bellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young 19 February 1970)[1She is an American actress, producer and singer, best known for her character Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama series Scandal (2012-2018). She won her 2014 Critics'' Choice Television Award as the top supporting actress on an action series. She also starred in the Fox show Prodigal Son (2019-2021). Young started her career as an actress in the theatre. In 1997 she had her Broadway debut as Mary in the original production of The Life. [8][9] She has also played off Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's Musical Merrily We're Rolling Along (1994) as well as in the musical of Randy Newman Faust (1995-1996). The first time she appeared on television in the year 1995 in the role of the character Dr. Courtney Evans, in her role as a frequent guest in the NBC soap series Another World. [7] She guest-starred in the show Law & Order in 1997 and 1998, playing two distinct roles. The year 1999 saw her debut in film with one small part in the crime-drama Black and White and later co-starred in several independent films. In the mid 2000s she began to be seen on a variety of comedy and drama television shows, such as The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. Young appeared on more than 30 television programs between 2000 and 2011.
