After being initially attracted by the shadows on trees she spotted on the grass, she set about studying a method that did not convey the selected object as a two-dimensional image on canvas. This way, the chosen subject transforms into an image of itself. This is particularly true when using living items or objects that die for example, like fruits or humans. Alexa's style of painting is very ephemeral. Only the images of her work are preserved. Trompe l'oeil can be achieved by combining the two techniques of photography and painting. The result is a flattened, two dimensional picture. Meade occasionally integrates painted models within the surrounding space. This allows them to be part of the world she has created. This way, the line between painting and photography is removed.
