She was a sports reporter for some of the most prestigious outlets in the country. It was a long time covering the sport for The Washington Post, including tennis, football, and basketball. Nichols was awarded two Emmy Awards during her nine-year period working for ESPN and appeared on some of its most watched programs like NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, changed to ESPN following the year 2004. Nichols was also a an integral part of ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcasts as an on-line reporter. She then moved to CNN as well as Turner Sports. Unguarded was a program that she produced and hosted, was telecast every week on CNN International. This show attracted millions of viewers from the whole globe. Nichols worked as a journalist at TNT at the time, covering NBA broadcasts like regular season games, playoffs or All-Star teams. Her duties on behalf of TBS included baseball and golf coverage as well as Final Four broadcasts by CBS. It was only the 2nd occasion in the 42-year history of TBS that a woman was selected from more than 200 nominations.
